Footprint Diary
Smartphone Application.
Concept and Design by David B Earle.

Footprint Diary is a free mobile phone and web application, informing about climate change consequences in developing countries and helping users act on their personal consumption.

Using a CO2 calculator which measures personal emissions, users are helped reduce their climate footprint step-by-step, then encouraged and reminded to set personal targets for reduction. Actual examples of those already affected by climate change help educate and motivate users to reduce their footprint. Push technology helps users manage their targets, and dynamic graphs help them see their progress over time.

The calculation system gives both actual estimates of CO2 and water usage, and a colour coding system which help the users to identify the activity which they should set a target on if they would like to have the biggest impact on their overall emissions and consumption.
