Killing i
written and directed by David Earle.
A short film
destructing identity and questioning collective reponsibility.A one minute
film with more than 720 cuts, averaging a new face/syllable
every 3 frames. All participents were unaware of the words
their voices would create. The director asked the 'faces'
to repeat random words to the camera, making sure specific
syllables were uttered by each, according to the storyboard. The final piece
cuts one syllable after another to create 'spoken' words,
which, as they are cut with the image, can also be lip read.
Text
I am not telling
you this.
This is not me.
I am not me.
I am not I.
They told me to say this.
I did not choose my words.
I have been given these words
by someone who is not me.
Which one of us is me?
Where
have I gone?
Can I tell you a lie
if I am not me?
Who is lying to you?
Not me.
Not I.
I do not exist.
